Seepegel brings together water levels, water temperatures and discharge for Swiss lakes and rivers as well as Lake Constance. Charts show changes over time, while historical comparisons help put current values in context. The service is available on the website and in the Android app.

Following a lake or river should not require searching several official portals, units and monitoring stations first. Seepegel connects current readings with their history and explains what a number can tell you – and what it cannot.

We combine measurements from public specialist agencies, including the FOEN and cantonal services, with weather data from MeteoSwiss and modelled lake temperatures from Alplakes/Eawag. The station, source and timestamp help you interpret each value. Modelled values are labelled accordingly; they are not local measurements.

Our own work starts after retrieval: we normalise formats and units, match stations to the correct water bodies, and build lasting time series. These become charts, seasonal comparisons, trends, water balances and plain-language guidance. Researched lake portraits and situation reports add verifiable context to the measurements.

Automated checks monitor plausible ranges, freshness, unusual jumps and incomplete deliveries. Faulty or stale source data is not silently presented as a new reading. Calculated, modelled and forecast values are explicitly identified as such.

Seepegel is a data and information service, not an official warning service. During hazardous conditions, follow notices from federal, cantonal and municipal authorities and emergency services. Sources, measurement times and methodology therefore remain directly accessible.
